Tortoise Skeleton

I thought this was a wooden sculpture then I realized that this is actually the skeletal structure of a tortoise. The fact that under that big shell there is still so much space left for the tortoise to use is fascinating to me. I think some of the man-made structures are based on the design of this skeleton. I wonder if we can replace the shell with glass so we can see the insides of a living tortoise without killing them.
